Today's WTF Friday inspiration comes from a story I first found on my favorite Australian news site. Those of you around in the beginning days of WTF Friday will remember that this newspaper inspired it all with its "Weird, True, Freaky" section (aka WTF... you know... what they really mean). Well, I found this story in that very section.
Cancer sucks. Life is good. Choose joy.
That is the motto on a purple bracelet worn by Aaron Jamison. He's an artist, comedian, musician, fellow blogger, and strong Christian. You see Aaron is living each day like it's his last, because one day soon it could be.
Aaron was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer last year. He was recently put on a new round of chemotherapy treatments. If the treatments work, doctors estimate he would have nine more months to live. If the treatments don't work, then that estimation drops to three months. Either way, Aaron is making the most of his time left here on Earth by spreading a message of hope while trying to raise money for his cremation and urn costs in a rather interesting way.
Just how is Aaron raising money? He's selling advertising space on the two urns planned to hold his ashes, one for his wife and the other for his parents.
Before you say this is in bad taste, listen to the rest of the story. Aaron doesn't want to leave any more debt or worry for his wife Kristin, not to mention the ads are a little way to leave behind a piece of personality.
“But the more I talked about it, the more I realized he’s always been quirky,” his wife told the Register-Guard. “That’s just something fun, and out of the ordinary, that helps him feel more secure, (knowing that funeral expenses) are taken care of and I won’t have to deal with it when the time comes.”
This caring and fun attitude is one we hold near and dear here in the Unscripted household. That is why today's post is just for you, Aaron. I hope it makes you laugh.
If restaurants told the truth: Many thanks for Cracked.com for the photos.
There ya go, Aaron. I hope it brings you a few moments of joy.
If you'd like to learn more about Aaron, visit his website. He needs to raise at least $800. He's selling the ad space for $100 each. And the coolest part is that he will be hand painting each advertisement onto the ceramic urns. You can donate to the cause through his website. Let's all do what we can, even if it's just spreading the word.
If you'd like to help me raise $100 to help him out, let me know. I'd love to contribute to this project.
Good luck, Aaron. You're in our prayers.
Rock steady this weekend, folks! And remember to take a few moments to enjoy the lighter side of life.

I love photos, especially the chubby "Wendy".
Meagan, I was thinking about trying to sell the bracelets. I sent him a message, I hope to hear back from him soon. He made up purple bracelets with his motto printed on them. Hopefully he'll get back to my soon.
Lauren, I don't know. I'll ask him.
RG, I'm with you. He's a strong soul and it surely shows. Most people would just give up. God bless him. And "fat Wendy" is my fav too. :)
